“Set in the heart of the historic town of Abingdon-on-Thames, The Crown & Thistle offers a magical setting that can be transformed for your wedding celebrations. The 400-year-old, grade II listed coaching inn has been impeccably restored and refurbished to embrace modern style and tastes.

Our new wedding licence means that you and your guests can celebrate your whole day in one wonderful location without the worry of travel. The beautiful, historic surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for an intimate occasion for your special ceremony.

With a number of wedding packages available, as well as bespoke menus and tastings, we offer a unique wedding service where you will be looked after every step of the way.

The beautiful 17th century Barn has been restored to its former glory, providing a wonderful setting for weddings. The Barn boasts original beams and ancient stone walls to create a rustic and romantic ambience for your day. The spectacular timber-vaulted space can accommodate up to 80 seated guests and 100 guests for a buffet.

The Crown & Thistle boasts 18 individual en-suite rooms for you and your overnight guests. Each cosy space has its own character and charm with ancient beams, exposed brickwork and gorgeous wallpapers produced by British designers. No two rooms are the same but all of them are finished to the same high standard, providing stylish and unique retreats for the end of the day.

The luxurious bridal suite has a four-poster bed, free standing bath and a double shower. Whether it’s the anticipation-filled night before, the exciting bridal preparations, or your first night of married life, the suite offers all you could need for the special day.

We would love for you to come and visit The Crown & Thistle. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch to arrange a visit, where a member of our fantastic team will show you around and explain how to make the most of the wonderful venue.”
