LGBTQ Wedding Venue & Vendor Spotlight

There are some fantastic gay-friendly wedding venues in the Pink Wedding Days directory, and we’ve always been proud to host such a diverse range of venues and service providers dedicated to giving couples the happiest day of their lives.

But choosing the venue or vendor for your same-sex wedding or civil partnership can be tough.  Sometimes we don’t know what we want OR we only know what we don’t want to see in our ceremonies.  It could be that we want to be surprised, to see something different or unique or a mix of the modern or traditional. Things are made more complicated by the sheer number of magazines, websites, brochures, magazines, fairs, television shows etc offering inspiration and choices.

It’s easy to become overwhelmed.

It’s easy to feel underwhelmed by the whole thing, too.

One thing you can do is give yourself some space before you start the serious business of wedding planning. Think of this time as a buffer between the engagement and the big decision making and start by looking at what’s available, what colours or designs you like, what location you’d prefer but don’t rule anything out and keep everything hypothetical. Have some fun with this, because you’re a wedding magpie now, and you should keep your eyes open for anything that interests you.  Don’t jump for the first few things you see unless you’re sure it’s what you want.

In the spirit of keeping your mind open, here's a taster of two venues and a service provider from our directory. All three offer something different but one thing that they all have in common is that they’re eager to help give you the happiest day of your life.

Thainstone House:

Thainstone House in Aberdeenshire is an 18th Century Palladian Mansion in the heart of 44 acres of private gardens and meadowland. What we LOVE about Thainstone House is how its charm and history have been carried over from the original family home to the hotel and wedding venue.  With a choice of different rooms and packages, the house puts you in control of your big day: whatever you need or want can be catered for.  Everything from a small intimate wedding breakfast for twenty-six in the Drawing Room to a larger affair for up to one-hundred and eighty guests in the Ballroom and everything between, too.

You can find out more about Thainstone House on the PWD page or by visiting their website.

Green Acre Events, East Devon

Looking for a boho or festival touch to your wedding? Green Acre Events is the venue for you.  Always up for a challenge, Green Acre Events is in the middle of a beautifully verdant valley in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Included in the venue hire are the gardens and paddocks (decorated with light), a barn with a bar, a kitchen, a covered seating area, sunroom, showers, camping fields and fire pits.  You can hire bell tents, too.  Venues like this are what Instagram was designed for, and Green Acre gives your guests something truly unique to enjoy.  If you’ve been inspired by festival, camping or wilderness weddings, then this could be the place for you.

Find out more about Green Acre Events on their Pink Wedding Days page or on their website.

Severn Scent Videos, Shropshire

You’re only going to get married once (or at least that’s the plan because IDK who wants to arrange seating plans more than once?) so it’s important that the day is documented properly because the happiest day of your life is going to fly by and you’re going to miss A LOT.

Good wedding photography and videography is worth its weight in gold.  Professional photographers don’t just take photographs, they’re capturing memories: the sights, sounds and emotions of your big day.  Severn Scent Videos create beautiful cinematic videos of your wedding day. With a wealth of experience, they know just how to capture and create film that you’ll watch over-and-over again throughout your married life. Visit the Severn Scent website to see examples of their impressive filmography.
