Askham Hall Earns a Michelin Star

Couples getting married at Askham Hall in Penrith, Cumbria, now have another reason to celebrate their choice of wedding venue:  Allium, Askham Hall’s on-site restaurant has just been awarded a Michelin Star.

And we couldn’t be happier for them.

Askham Hall is a superb venue and this most-coveted award is thoroughly well-deserved.

The food is sumptuous, scrumptious locally-inspired hearty fare inspired by produce that's grown on the estate and in the surrounding area.

Charles Lowther, the owner of Askham Hall, says,

“This is tremendous news and a testament to the dedication, creativity and sheer hard work of Richard and his talented team. The cycle of life in the gardens and fields at Askham Hall dictate our menus and we are proud to take a leading role in the Lake District’s growing reputation as a foodie destination.”

Head Chef, Richard Swale, has been praised for his “innate understanding” of how to use the “fantastic produce” on Askham’s doorstep. He says, “The Michelin star is an acknowledgement of our desire to produce plates of food which are completely in harmony with nature".

What makes Askham Hall so special, however, isn’t just the food (although, what an excuse to visit now!), but the fact that it’s a gorgeous wedding venue, too. One where the staff are both conscientious and thoroughly dedicated to giving you and your partner the happiest day of your life.

Entry is free, and we’re confident you’ll be blown away by what you see. Click the link above or read about the event at the bottom of this post.

Askham Hall is a Grade I listed building situated in 40-acres of beautiful gardens: the epitome of romance.  There’s a real old charm feeling to this place: cosy warm nooks, castellated 12-century tower hall and crackling log fires.
The addition of a Michelin Star is just another jewel to this venue’s crown and we’d like to wish everyone at Askham Hall our heartiest congratulations
(and the same to anyone lucky enough to be celebrating at the venue in the near future).

What are your impressions of the venue?  Have you visited recently or were you married inside?

Drop us a message we’d love to hear your stories about Askham Hall.
