Askham Hall Scoop Two Awards at Cumbria Tourism Awards 2016

We’d like to say massive CONGRATULATIONS! to Askham Hall for scooping two awards at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2016.

They won Wedding Venue of the Year as well as Guest Accommodation of the Year.

This is fantastic news both for the venue and for all the couples planning their nuptials in this superb historic hall.

If you're looking for a wedding venue in Cumbria, then we'd highly recommend a visit.

On the website, there's plenty of offers, too, for mid-week and late availability ceremonies, and a link to their wedding brochure.

Or why not visit their grade II listed gardens and cafe

Askham Hall

"Award winning week for historic hall It’s back to business for one of the county’s most historic halls this week, after a string of award wins in just over seven days. Not only did Askham Hall scoop two top accolades at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2016, but the 13th-century hideaway has also been named as the best venue in Cumbria at the North West Wedding Awards.

Askham was the only business to win two top prizes at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2016, in one of the county’s largest ever gatherings of tourism businesses at Cartmel Racecourse. As well as beating off stiff competition in the highly contested Guest Accommodation of the Year category, Askham became the first-ever recipient of the new Wedding Venue of the Year award. Askham Hall’s reputation for weddings has been further reinforced by a win at the North West Wedding Awards, staged at Manchester’s Imperial War Museum North by County Brides magazine. Nominees for the Venue Cumbria award were nominated by newly married couples, with Askham Hall taking the top prize.

Owner of Askham Hall, Charles Lowther, says, “What a week it’s been for Askham Hall. Winning three prestigious awards is a great tribute to all the team, who work day in, day out to give our guests the best possible experience they can. He adds, “Already this year, we have refurbished the property’s medieval banquet hall and opened up three new bedrooms in an area of the house not used since the 1960s. Then earlier this Spring, we were named as one of the top 100 wedding venues in the UK and abroad by an esteemed bridal magazine. So to be given these latest awards is genuinely humbling and really adds value to everything we do.”

There was even more good news for Askham Hall’s sister establishment, the George & Dragon at Clifton, which was also highly commended at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2016 in the Taste Cumbria category for ‘Dining Experience of the Year’."
