Gay Heath Advert Banned for Being Too Risque (Is Actually an Adorable Video with an Important Message)

Have you seen this?

A sexual health advert has been banned by a number of South African advertising networks for being too risqué to televise.

The advert was released by We The Brave a sexual heath campaign for gay men.

The advert isn’t risqué in the slightest. Seriously, give it a watch. In fact, compared to what makes it onto television these days, it’s pretty tame and actually very sweet: a man kisses his partner in front of his father and reveals his sexuality.

That’s it.

The idea behind the advert is that if you’re brave enough to come out, then you’re brave enough to use contraception.

It's a message of real importance, which makes the ban both frustrating and deeply concerning for those behind it.

If advertising networks are fine with the sexual objectification of women in adverts, then they should be able to handle two men sharing a brief kiss. The networks should be mature about gay sexual health.

We'd encourage everyone to watch the short advert (it's really good, honestly!) and give this important message the exposure it deserves
